The Body of Christ

One mind, One heart, one Spirit

I couldn't believe it, you guys!

I just got an email from info@joelosteen.com (a friend signed me up for it).

Pastor Osteen's wife just wrote and published a new book that she is promoting on tour around the country.

When I saw the title of her new book, I was dumbstruck. I felt sick.

The title of the book is,

"LOVE YOUR LIFE:
living happy, healthy and whole."

I am not kidding! If you don't believe me, check it out here, http://www.victoriaosteen.com/aboutthebook.shtml

Here are some quotes from the promotion material:

"But even in the midst of all the hustle and busyness, you can find fulfillment and achieve happiness—you can Love Your Life!"

"It’s about having the right perspective and understanding the value of who you are and what you have."

"Ultimately, loving your life is about discovering the greatness that’s inside of you and the influence you have on the world around you. You will be amazed at the impact you will have when you tap into those treasures within."

"No matter where you are today, you have the potential to have better relationships, to increase in confidence, to overcome obstacles, ...Be encouraged today because there is so much more in you that is waiting to be discovered."

And we thought that, "YOUR BEST LIFE NOW" was bad. At least that was a little more subtle. Who would have thought that the church in America would stray so far from the words of Christ that this kind of a book could be written and accepted?

"HE THAT LOVES HIS LIFE SHALL LOSE IT;
and he that hates his life in this world
shall keep it unto life eternal."
--John 12:25.

So says our Lord. May his words be louder in our hearts than are those of men (or women) in our ears.

Unless it's a marketing ploy and when you start reading the book, the message comes out that you must give up your life :).

2 Timothy 4:2-5 (King James Version)
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
