How did you come to know and trust in Jesus Christ?
So far the Lord has not revealed to me exactly when I was born again, but I clearly remember when it was that I first understood the gospel. I was about four years old, and my Dad sat down with me on the couch in the living room and showed me the Jesus film (the one produced by John Heyman and starring Brian Deacon). I saw Jesus crucified in a very realistic and impressionable way for a child my age. Growing up in a Christian home, I had been always taught that Jesus was God, and I saw how my parents focused their lives around him, which lead me to think that he was at least a good and important man. What I saw in the movie disturbed me. Why would God just let these people do all of these awful things to him? Why did these people seem to hate Jesus so much, and why would they want to kill someone who only did good for people? After the movie, these questions came up. My Dad explained to me that these things happened because of my sin, and that Jesus was willingly offering his life in my place so that I might be saved. Then, the lights went on! I was overcome with horror at my own sin and with awe at what God had done for me. Believe it or not, four-year-olds are able to understand sin and salvation. It is simple enough for them. That very hour I believed and gave my life to the Lord in the best way I knew how. I think that was the day that I was born again. Since then I have fallen into all kinds of doubt and sin for which I am very much ashamed, but, to no credit of my own, the Holy Spirit has always been there to convict me and lead me back to him, especially in the hardest times, for which I hope to become more grateful. He is faithful! May my trust never be in my so called righteousness, but always only in his mercy and faithfulness!
What is the Gospel?
Short version,
God laid my sins upon himself in Christ and died in my place to save me from his holy and just wrath which my sins deserved. He freely makes me his own and clothes me with his own, spotless righteousness as a gift of his grace. I put all of my trust in him alone, my only Savior from death and hell.

Hey Everyone!

Welcome. Make sure to check out the teaching by R.C. Sproul, "A Contrite Repentance," and the sermon by Charles Spurgeon, "Compel Them to Come In," under My Music. They are #12 and #13 on the playlist and are to help us obey the commandment in 2 Corinthians 13:5 (ESV), "Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you fail to meet the test!" How certain are you that you have really repented of your sins? Are you aware that Jesus said if you do not repent you will perish (Luke 13:5)? Did you know that there is such a thing as false repentance? Can you tell the difference between false and true repentance? God does not want you to go to hell (Ez 33:11), and because of the death of Jesus on your behalf he is able to forgive you for all of your sins, and he will, but faith alone is not enough (James 2:14). You must also repent, and your repentance must be genuine. Please do not leave this website without making sure you are in the faith. Listen to the teaching and the preaching of God's word, examine yourself, and may God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," shine in your heart to give you the knowledge of his glory in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Cor 4:6) and make your calling and election sure (2 Peter 1:10).
After you have done that, feel free to worship the Lord here as long as you like. Listen to the music, watch the video clips, leave comments etc. But whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God (1 Cor 10:31), giving thanks to God and the Father through Jesus Christ (Col 3:17).

Pneumonia & Common-Grace

Hey Everybody,

As some of you already know, I just recently recovered from a mild bout with pneumonia. Thank you, those of you who knew about it, for your prayers. Thanks to those prayers, and to the power of God, I am recovered and well!

It was not a spectacular miracle, it did not happen instantly with hands laid-on me, or anything of that sort (wonderful as that is); it was gradual (over several days), and with the aid of prescription and over-the-counter medications. I suppose it was, as a… Continue

Forgetting on Memorial Day?

Tomorrow is Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a day when we as Americans are supposed to remember ("memorial") all the brave men and women who have willingly sacrificed their lives for freedom. We are to pause and think about all the freedoms we have and enjoy in this country, that of religion, of speech, of assembly, of inquiry, of petition, of education, of press etcetera, and to express our gratitude for these men and women who "purchased" these freedoms for us, and to consider whether we are (a… Continue

My First Post

This is more of an experiment than anything. I realized today that there is stuff to share with you guys in my life that is not exactly suitable for the Testimony Forum, or the Prayer Forum, or the Discussion Forums, and that perhaps this "blog" stuff might actually have its uses after all. Come to think of it, I hope that you guys start one, like Lakisha did, so that I can read about what is important in your lives also. I will update this blog periodically, if for no other reason just to colle… Continue

I tried to fix my settings to reflect my recent activity on the tracker. Let's see if it works.

I like your addition to the memorial day post. Again it was a great post overall. I think it'd be a great discussion question!
