The Body of Christ

One mind, One heart, one Spirit

Tonight I checked out a different Bible study of college students (other than my usual). Great time, great people. It's amazing how we often hear about people complaining about finding friends or fellowship. This is just another example of how it's all up to YOU making the effort. There are plenty of opportunities out there where you can get plugged in. Look for a church that's big on emphasizing fellowship, correct on theology, and passionate about missions --then the ball's in your court. If you live near Minneapolis or Houston, I can pledge that you shouldn't have complaints. If you're in one of those two cities and you don't have a mentor, are not a member of a small group, are having trouble making Godly relationships with the opposite sex (and the same sex of course), then it's as easy as putting down that remote and getting off the couch.

Wow!
*sting*! Ouch! So, true; so, true.
It's so funny that you brought this up right now, Brian. I was just spending time last night with Bro. Paul and another Brother from church, and afterward I felt so edified in the Spirit, and I was wondering, "Why has it been so long since I felt like this? Why don't we make this (fellowshipping with Christ and each other) more of a priority?" We are so prone to shift the blame off of ourselves and onto others, but you are right--we have no excuse! It's not that it's so very difficult to do; it's just that we don't care enough to do it.
I for one know that my own sinful tendency is to isolate myself--to get wrapped up in my own ambitions and my own selfish desires--and to neglect caring for other people. How much of it is not being willing to love others, and how much of it is the fear of being loved, or not loved, by other, I do not know; but, I do know that it is impossible to obey the commandment of Christ to "love one another, even as [he] has loved [us]" (Jn 13:34) unless we are together! And, we cannot love Christ unless we obey his commandments (Jn 14:23). Hence, we cannot love our Lord and Savior if we are always sitting at a computer or reading a book.
